Bonding Inorganic, Organometallic and Boron Chemistry
The Cummings Research Group was founded in August 2017 at Howard University along with Dr. Andre Clayborne's group. Our research will emphasize the development of a new and robust ligand platform built around the boron atom. These ligands will allow us to investigate new binding modes of these boron-centric ligands with transition metals, with the goal of investigating a novel class of catalysts to address environmental impact issues, especially re-usability. Additionally, we are are also investigating approaches for using boron clusters to 1) uptake and degrade chemical warfare agents, and 2) provide a framework for small-molecule intercalation.
The research interest of the group are synthesis, crystallography, catalysis, electrochemistry, and spectroscopy.
The group is seeking active and interested undergraduate, masters and PhD students. Please send me an email or stop by Chemistry #317.
